Final Report

Executive Summary

The final reportl contains a discussion of the systems designed for the DMA Building and alternatives considered for further investigation. The analysis was performed on the following alternatives: Combined Heat and Power, Thermal Energy Storage, and System Optimization.

Combined Heat and Power was analyzed to determine the feasiblity of on-site power generation. An analysis was be done to determine the required electricity as well as cooling and heating capacity of the CHP system.

Thermal Energy Storage was evaluated based on peak shaving and cost savings of utilizing the system. Ice storage as well as chilled water storage was compared based on space requirements, initial cost, and efficiency of the system.

System Optimization was discussed in two different parts. DOAS was discussed in part A. Data center optimization was discussed in part B

The two breadths selected for analysis are related to the CHP systems. An electrical analysis was perfromed on the connection the CHP plant. An acoustical analysis was performed to make sure the building will meet building noise criteria.
